Your fitness brand does some real heavy lifting

You offer insight, advice, and information that help your audience excel at their wellness goals.

Editing fine-tunes your content and gives your reader immediate and lasting confidence in your expertise, so they come back to you again and again.

Why hire me for your fitness magazine or education website?

The average reader can make sense of even under-edited articles—so why would you pay to have someone review them for grammar, syntax, and stylistic errors?

Before the internet became a one-stop shop of information, where Jo Blo could publish just as easily as any expert, the content we consumed was edited to near perfection before it was ever printed or shared. Because of this, even someone who doesn’t know a comma from an apostrophe knows instinctively how good writing should look and read.

An article or blog post with errors—even just subtle typos or a clunky sentence—stands out immediately as less reliable, less factual, and less helpful.

With all the misinformation around health and fitness these days, you want your content to spark confidence, not uncertainty, in your readers. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how well-researched or well-meaning your information is. At the end of the day, well-edited content reduces bounces, increases time-on-page metrics, and raises your overall trustworthiness in the eyes of the great Google, not to mention the reader herself.

How can I help?

Do you need the entire last year of your site content reviewed for clarity? An editorial pass on just the high-ticket sponsored posts and course releases? Weekly proofreading of your newsletters? I’m here for you!

Editing is so much more than just fixing typos. I look at page layout (think paragraph length, readability components like ads, reading level, colour scheme, etc.), SEO and GEO (generative engine optimization, the new Big Thing), and the flow and structure of the whole shebang.

There are plenty of ways we can work together, depending on your publishing frequency, content calendar, and budget.

  • Bring me on as a one-time reviewer to make sure your first edition or new course is crystal clear and suits your style guide like a matching tracksuit.

  • (Don’t have a style guide? I can help with that, too.)

  • Reserve me ahead of time to review each upcoming issue or release of your magazine or website. Bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly—I’m there when you need me and out of your hair when you don’t.

  • Hire me for a site audit or an edit of your landing pages and products—these components are just as important to fine-tune as your articles.

  • Reach out to chat about a services combo that works for you, from high-level, final proofreading right before publication to the nitty-gritty stylistic/structural editing of the first draft.

Why am I qualified to edit your fitness publication?

Before I became certified as a fitness instructor, trainer, and yoga teacher, I got my journalism degree. Since 2015, I’ve been working as a professional editor and content writer.

I spent many years as a content manager for one of Canada’s largest digital publishing firms, manning all things content for a health and wellness website. Today, I copyedit scientific journals and help small businesses fine-tune their on-page content to ensure it backs up their professional prowess clearly, confidently, and concisely. I also teach community workout classes!

As a result, I hold both the editing and fitness knowledge essential for polishing up your well-researched and thoughtfully written content.

Pricing

Prices are estimates. Packages are customized for each project.

Stylistic editing: $0.05–0.07/word. This approach includes a review of sentence and paragraph structure, readability, grammar and syntax, style guide consistency, voice, and reading level. I recommend larger changes (in addition to addressing typos and grammar missteps), as needed. Stylistic editing does not include fact-checking.

Proofreading: $0.02–0.03/word. This service includes general grammar and spelling errors. It does not include fact-checking.

Fact-checking add on. Need a final pass for accuracy from someone who knows the lingo? Tack on fact-checking for an additional $0.02/word.

The exact rate for your project will depend on the frequency of the work and other factors. If you don’t know the word count, no worries! We can use a different metric to build out your unique pricing.
